Thank God – laughter is back in town! Funny Laundry startet mit uns und Perlen der englischsprachigen Stand-Up Comedy-Szene in den Mai!

Michael Smiley: He was born in Belfast, and moved to London in his 20s with his wife. He became well-known for his role as Tyres the bicycle riding raver for 2 episodes of Simon Pegg and Jessica Stevenson’s television series Spaced and for his appearances at the Edinburgh Fringe and the Melbourne Comedy Festival. He also played Jordan, a former member of the British Army’s Parachute Regiment in the 2008 horror film Outpost as well as a zombie in Shaun of the Dead.
He began doing stand-up in 1993, after accepting a bet at an open-mic night. He had worked previously as a cycle courier (like his character in Spaced, Tyres O’Flaherty) and as a DJ. In 2003, he guest starred in the Doctor Who audio drama Creatures of Beauty. In 2004 he appeared in season 2, episode 4 of Hustle as Max the forger. He also was a small character in episode 2 “The Model” of 15 Storeys High. He has also appeared in all three series of The Maltby Collection on Radio 4 as Des Wainwright, an eccentric security Guard who keeps repeating himself and reminding people he was in the SAS. He also played the part of Benny Silver in the BBC drama series Luther. He appears as “Smiley” in the latest Betfair “Front Room” adverts. In 2010 he had a major role in the film Burke & Hare, also starring Pegg and Stevenson (now Hynes after her marriage).

Josh Widdicombe: Since his first gig in 2008 Josh has had a remarkable impact on the comedy circuit. In just two years he has won the FHM Stand Up Hero 2010 competition, been named Leicester Mercury Comedian of the Year 2010 and after just a handful of gigs made it to the final of the prestigious ‘So You Think You’re Funny’ final at the Edinburgh Fringe in 2008 Now regarded as one of the best up-and-coming acts on the UK circuit Josh is in constant demand at clubs and theatres across Britain. Josh is fast establishing himself on the live circuit supporting huge comic talent such as Kevin Bridges, Michael McIntyre, Alan Carr and Shappi Khorsandi. Other than stand up Josh has been busy taking part in BBC Radio 4′s Loose Ends, Arthur Smith’s Balham Bash, BBC Radio 5Live’s Fighting Talk and ITV4′s Mark Watson Kick’s Off. Josh will also be appearing in ITV4′s FHM Stand-Up Hero – the series starts this autumn running for six weeks. He has also written for Mock The Week, 8 Out of 10 Cats and Radio Four’s Look Away Now..
